KICK-IN JUNIOR PROGRAM
RECOMMENDED FOR AGES 6-14
Golf is a wonderful sport. Not only is it an opportunity to be active and outside in the fresh air but golf courses tend to be one of the safest places to spend time. Golf courses are generally beautiful with manicured grounds and transport the player somewhere special in their mind. Golf is also a wonderful sport because it includes human skills such as honesty, respect, courtesy, and perseverance. The Kick-In program will be focusing on these human skills throughout the levels helping grow the student as a person as well as to grow their golf skills.
The Kick-In program includes 5 levels to participate in. Collect all the belt colours and obtain a Black Belt as students make their way through all of the levels. Each level takes on a new shape as the program includes checkpoints for the students as they make their way through the program. This is great for parents as now you can follow along in your child's progress.
In all of our levels the students are tested on certain checkpoints in order to advance in the program. All levels include 'points-based' testing on putting, chipping, and the full swing. Level 4 and level 5 also include a round of 9 holes in which certain scores must be shot in order to pass.
All of the checkpoints are included in the level descriptions below. (This may aid in selecting a level for the student)
Did you know that a "Kick-In" golf shot is a very short putt usually the outcome of a fantastic approach shot or long putt. The program will give the students the tools they need to have more "Kick-Ins" in life and on the links.

*Note* Students do not need to start in Level 1 - White Belt. It is possible to begin the program in the later levels.

Level 1 White Belt recommended ages 6-9
Our white belt program which introduces the great game of golf to boys and girls between the ages of 6-9.
This program :
- is 4/60 minute sessions over 4 weeks.
- covers basic rules and etiquette to introduce the great game of golf.
- covers basics in grip, stance, posture, and ball position for many aspects of the game of golf.
- covers full swing, chipping, and putting in a fun and encouraging manner.
- is a great place to start if your child is new to the game or needs a refresher course.
- is recommended before doing the level 2 program.
CHECKPOINTS TO PASS LEVEL 1 INCLUDE :
- Demonstrates correct grip, stance, and posture.
- Identify parts of a golf hole.
- Basic understanding of scoring terms.
- Can sustain focus and participates in the lesson.
- Can 3 Putt or less from 20 feet from the hole.
- Can chip the ball into the air and onto the green from 3 yards off of the green.
- Can make effective contact with the ball on a full swing. No distance requirement.
TESTING IS DONE DURING THE LESSONS AND 5 CHECKPOINTS MUST BE PASSED TO MOVE ONTO THE LEVEL 2 YELLOW BELT PROGRAM.

Level 2 - Yellow Belt recommended for ages 6-10
Our Yellow Belt program for growing technique in boys and girls ages 6-10.
It is recommended, but not mandatory that a child has done the Level 1 White Belt program prior to taking the Level 2 Yellow Belt program.
This program :
- is 4/60 minute sessions over 4 weeks.
- is a great place to start your child if they have minor previous experience and are 8-10 years old or for a 6-7 year old who is showing promising skills.
- grows technique through more advanced drills and games allowing for further skill acquisition in the golf swing.
- incorporates basic rules and etiquette.
CHECKPOINTS TO PASS LEVEL 2 INCLUDE :
- Demonstrates correct grip, stance, posture.
- Identify parts of a golf club.
- Basic understanding of scoring terms.
- Can sustain focus and participates during the lesson.
- Can 3 Putt or less from 30 feet from the hole.
- Can chip a ball into the air and onto the green from 5 yards off the green.
- Can effectively produce airborne contact 50% of their swings. No distance requirement.
TESTING IS DONE DURING THE LESSONS AND 6 CHECKPOINTS MUST BE PASSED TO MOVE ONTO LEVEL 3 GREEN BELT

Level 3 - Green Belt recommended for ages 8-12
Our level 3 program is for juniors with prior experience or who are of age to learn intermediate techniques.
It is recommended, but not mandatory that the child has completed the Level 2 Yellow Belt program before taking the Level 3 Green Belt program.
This program :
- is a great place to start if your child is new to the game and is older or if your child has some previous instruction and shows signs of skill.
- is 3/60 minute lessons followed by a 60 minute testing session on the fourth day.
- covers basics in pre shot routine, ball flights, and introduces tactics and strategy to scoring.
- includes sessions on full swing, chipping, and putting.
CHECKPOINTS TO PASS LEVEL 3 INCLUDE :
- Demonstrates principles of alignment and ball position.
- Understands how to determine yardage.
- Understands basic 'flow of play' for ready golf and tournament golf.
- Remains focused and participates in the lesson.
- Score 60 points on the putting test.
- Score 30 points on the chipping test.
- Score 35 points girls / 50 points boys on the full swing test.

Level 4 - Blue Belt recommended for ages 9-13
Our Level 4 program is for juniors who definitely have on course experience or are 12-13 years old with a desire to learn the game.
It is recommended, although not mandatory, that the child has completed the Level 3 Green Belt program before taking the Level 4 Blue Belt program.
This program :
- is a great place to start your child if they have done previous instruction and are showing signs of above average skill or they are older and will be able to hit the ball athletically.
- hones in on the players ability to reduce their scores incorporating introductions to recovery shots and short game creativity.
- teaches the player how to choose the correct club for each shot and further discusses strategy based on intermediate skill sets.
- promotes on course etiquette with a more in depth look at the rules and handicapping.
CHECKPOINTS TO PASS LEVEL 4 INCLUDE :
- Demonstrates the ability to curve the ball in both directions
- Demonstrates the ability to choose the correct club for the given situation
- Demonstrates respect for the instructor and fellow students
- Score an average of 4 per hole on a pitch and putt challenge
- Score 55 points on the putting test
- Score 40 points on the chipping test
- Score 50 points girls / 65 points boys on the full swing test

Level 5 - Red Belt recommended ages 10-14
Our Level 5 program is the pinnacle of our levels. The child will earn a Black Belt for successful completion of this program.
It is recommended, although not mandatory, that the child has completed the Level 4 Blue Belt program prior to taking the Level 5 Red Belt program.
This program:
- is designed for children with previous on course experience and instruction experience.
- deals specifically with how to shoot lower scores with a focus on shot shaping, distance control, and risk management.
- imparts strict on-course etiquette and a knowledge of rules and handicapping.
- feeds into our elite Winter Players program and our competitive league play in the summer months.
CHECKPOINTS TO PASSING LEVEL 5 AND EARNING A BLACK BELT INCLUDE :
- Demonstrates the ability to hit shots with a variety of ball flights.
- Understands the role of a handicap and how it is used.
- Demonstrates respect for instructor and fellow students.
- Score an average of 3 per hole on a pitch and putt challenge.
- Score 70 points on the putting challenge.
- Score 50 points on the chipping challenge.
- Score 65 points (Girls) / 80 points (Boys) on the full swing challenge.
